Hallelujah I'm Ready to Go!

It's 1:45 a.m. in Croatia as I sit here writing. We leave for the airport at 4:45 so our team has decided just to stay up. It seems silly to get undressed and get in bed for only a couple of hours.

Alois and I stayed up late last night playing fiddle tunes. We slept in this morning and had a late breakfast of salami, cheeses and bread. We jammed with Alois and Edith and then cooked some more sausages out on the grill. They eat a lot of sausage here.

We had to drive about an hour to the city where the concert would be held. For some strange reason, Todd wanted me to drive his 5-speed Volkswagon van while he drove another car. That was quite the drive. As Bill says, "There's not fifty feet of straight road in this country!" We twisted and turned and shifted gears until we all felt like milkshakes.

The concert was held in a downtown civic center hall. The place was packed and a local TV station filmed us. We recruited Alois and Edith to play with us. One man who played for the other group played a small folk instrument that is very similar to a mandolin. During the encore, he and I played a duet together.

We will be home in about 24 hours and sometime between now and Sunday the four of us will have to wade through hundreds of photos and hours of video to share with you all on Sunday evening. I can't imagine a mission trip being any better than this.

If you look close at this poster you can see it says, "The Coy Wylie Band." It made Bill so mad almost wouldn't play :-)

Soli Deo Gloria!

I wanted to thank you again for the posts. I really enjoyed being able to keep up with the activities of your visit. I know this was an experience my parents will alway cherish. I am so thankful that the Lord made this happen for all of you!
